Mike Koedinger

Luxembourg-based Media Entrepreneur and Citizen Philanthropist

Mike Koedinger is a Luxembourg-based media entrepreneur and citizen philanthropist. He is the founder and CEO of Paperjam, Luxembourg’s leading business media company, which has been publishing independent and influential business journalism for over 25 years. Since 2008, he has also overseen the development of the Paperjam Club, now the country’s largest private business network.

A member of Luxembourg’s Press Council since 2016, Koedinger was elected Chairman of EMMA – the European Magazine Media Association in the summer of 2023, expanding his influence on the international media landscape through EU-level advocacy for the commercial sustainability and freedom of expression of the independent press.

In 2026, Koedinger launched the Mike Koedinger Foundation, a non-profit initiative dedicated to safeguarding media integrity and strengthening democratic resilience in an age marked by digital disruption, disinformation, and growing mistrust in institutions. The foundation is initiated and continuously funded by Mike Koedinger, while also raising support from individuals, companies, and like-minded not-for-profit organisations.

Koedinger’s journey as a publisher began at the age of 15 with the release of his first fanzine. This early passion for independent publishing and community building has since evolved into a lifelong mission: to use media and shared experiences - both digital and real-world - to “shape the future of a progressive Luxembourg.” Deeply committed to the country’s long-term development, Koedinger continues to contribute to its societal evolution and global reputation.

In 2005, he founded Colophon – International Independent Magazine Symposium, co-curated with Jeremy Leslie and Andrew Losowsky. The symposium hosted two editions (2007 and 2009) and led to the publication of two internationally acclaimed books: We Love Magazines (2007) and We Make Magazines (2009). Watch video

In 2009, he co-founded the non-profit Design Friends with Nadine Clemens, Arnaud Mouriamé, and Silvano Vidale, and later served as its Vice President. Under his leadership, the association hosted over 50 lectures by internationally renowned designers until 2020, when he stepped down to focus on Paperjam during the Covid-19 crisis. He remains a member and sponsor.

Koedinger also founded TEDxLuxembourgCity in 2011, organizing two official editions in 2011 and 2012. Watch Marie Muller’s talk.

In 2014, Maison Moderne (as his company was previously called) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a stage production by Boz Templemorris. Watch video

In 2023, he co-founded Nexus Luxembourg – Accelerating AI and Tech for a Better Tomorrow with Kamel Amroune. By 2025, the event had become Luxembourg’s largest-ever business gathering, attracting over 8,500 participants, 600+ speakers, and 200+ startups from more than 50 countries. Watch aftermovie

While his early editorial focus centered on urban culture, nightlife, and creative scenes, Koedinger’s interests quickly expanded to include digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and politics — themes that have remained central to his media work since the early 2000s.

Over the years, Koedinger has launched numerous magazines, both self-published and for institutional or commercial clients. Self-published titles include Explorator (1994-2015) Nightlife.lu (1997–2002), Paperjam (since 2000), Nico (2007–2012), Archiduc (2010–2019), Désirs (2011–2012), Delano (2011–2024) and Dadada (2016–2018). He has also developed editorial projects for key clients, including the City of Luxembourg and Luxair, the national airline.

Today, Mike Koedinger divides his focus between a long-term growth strategy for Paperjam and the development of the Mike Koedinger Foundation, as part of his ongoing commitment to democratic resilience and independent media.

He is married to Isabelle Thill, and is a passionate vegetarian and yoga practitioner.
